Description:	The 18th CIRP International Conference on Life Cycle Engineering, May 2nd - 4th, 2011, continues a long tradition of scientific meetings under the aegis of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP). For many years extensive research in life cycle assessment, product development and sustainable manufacturing has produced a vast pool of knowledge, the application of which is still hampered by reluctant implementation of serious environmental strategies in practice.
